1.5.0.0 Update

Upgrading the Firmware in your QTelNet FreeRide equipment

IMPORTANT:

Note that the 1.5.0.0 update is applicable to the
FXS-1301, FXO-1301, IP-1301 and IP-2301 only.

This update is NOT APPLICABLE to the FXS-1401.

The following process will upgrade the operating software of your QTelNet FreeRide telephone or gateway by downloading new software via FTP (file transfer protocol) directly into the unit. Once initiated, this process should not be interrupted, so we recommend reading the complete instructions before you begin.

In particular, note that you will be required to reconfigure the unit when the update is complete, so you should have all required information at hand.

Step-by-step Instructions:

1. Access the web-based configuration pages of the FreeRide unit you wish to upgrade.

2. Select Network.

3. Enter the address of the FTP server in the Boot Host fields:

FTP (Boot Host) Server: 209.47.98.24

4. Enter the name of the upgrade file in the Boot File fields.

If you are upgrading a phone unit (IP-1301/2301) or an FXS gateway (FXS-1301) the file name is ggh323fxs.ld

If you are upgrading an FXO gateway (FXO-1301) the file name is ggh323fxo.ld

5. Enter the user name and password of the FTP server in the user name and user password fields. Please note both are case sensitive.

User Name: update1401
Password: J7G51401

6. Click Configure at the bottom of the page.

7. Click Reboot and reboot the unit.

8. Close the current browser window.

9. When the upgrade process is complete...

...a FreeRide phone will automatically reboot and ring to signal a successful upgrade

...a FreeRide gateway's Ready light will come on (approximately three minutes for the remote user).

10. Launch a new browser and access the web pages again. With the 1.4 upgrade, you should notice a visible difference compared with 1.3.x.x.

11. After rebooting, you must clear out the configuration on the Advanced page, reboot, and then reconfigure the unit anew.

Additional Steps for FreeRide Telephone:

If you have performed the upgrade on a gateway, then the upgrade is complete.

If you are upgrading a phone from 1.3.0.8 or earlier to 1.4.0.1, you must also perform the following steps, because a change has been made to the flash timer of the phone and the phone top must be set to match.

1. Begin by pressing and holding the 2, 3, 4, and 8 keys, then release them and depress them together again. When done successfully, the prompt on the screen should change.

2. Once the screen changes, arrow down through the prompts until Memory… is displayed.

3. Press Select twice.

4. Enter the number 9230 in the top field.

5. Press Select again, and enter the number 1852 into the bottom field.

6. Press Select once, then unplug the power from the phone, wait a few seconds, and reconnect it.

7. After the phone rings once to signal reboot, it is ready for use.
